Biography

From Kırıkhan to Parliament

Born in Kırıkhan, Hatay, in 1969. He graduated in Public Administration from Istanbul University's Faculty of Political Science, took his master's degree at Hacettepe University and his doctorate at Ankara University with a dissertation on the history of administrative reform in Türkiye.

He taught Turkish political life at Gazi University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and worked as a researcher and consultant at the ANAR and SETA think tanks. During the peace process he served on the Wise Persons Committee. He wrote columns for Hürriyet and Vatan and appeared as a political commentator on TRT, NTV and CNN Türk.

Elected to Parliament for Istanbul in June 2015, he served as Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism in the 64th and 65th governments. He has represented Hatay in the 27th and 28th terms of the Grand National Assembly, chaired its Digital Media Committee and currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the AK Party.

His books include Türkiye's Memory of the Kurdish Question, State Reform and the Presidential System in Türkiye and Speeches That Shaped Türkiye: The Legacy of Turgut Özal, all published by Doğan Kitap.
